9/26/05: My interview with AudiologyOnline about the Starkey Hearing Research Center has been posted.

4/15/05: Am giving a talk at the UC Berkeley Cognitive and Brain Sciences Seminar Series.

3/8/05: Just added a copy of a keynote address I gave at a talk in Toronto called "The Future of Hearing Aid Technology". 

Here's a press release on the opening of the Starkey Hearing Research Center. I found out about it when a friend e-mailed me a copy :)

12/13/05: The Starkey Hearing Research Center in Berkeley, CA is officially open!

08/24/04: Photos from Prague and Vienna are posted.

08/11/04: The first photos from a great trip to Europe are posted, showing images from Berlin. Photos from the rest of the trip will posted soon. 

04/19/04: I have started a new job at Starkey Laboratories, creating and running a new Hearing Research Center in the Bay Area. More details to come!

04/18/04: I recently returned from a trip to Mono Lake, a beautiful area just east of Yosemite. Of course, I took many photos.

03/07/04: Skiing in Utah can be a scary experience if you haven't skied in over 10 years. I may have destroyed by quads, but I got some good photos.

02/10/04: The chapter that I wrote in 1998 for the Speech Processing volume of the Springer Handbook of Auditory Research is out. Finally!

07/30/03: Went to opening night of the North Beach Jazzfest--40 bands at 40 venues. Best band I heard was a rockabilly group. I guess Johnny Cash is jazz these days.

07/27/03: Submitted talks to next year's American Academy of Audiology meeting--am now drumming my fingers waiting to see what was accepted.

06/26/03: I gave a talk at the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco.

04/29/03:  Acoustical Society of America meeting in Nashville, TN.

04/02/03:  American Academy of Audiology in San Antonio, TX.

Introduction

This is the homepage to my website, in case the URL didn't give it away. I do, however, have a blog that I will be updating much more frequently than this site, so check out BrentBlog.

I direct the new Hearing Research Center for Starkey Laboratories where psychoacoustic and signal processing research is translated into helping the hearing impaired.

This site contains a variety of topics that interest me: psychoacoustics, movies, general speech and hearing science, my publications, San Francisco information, photos, chess, and whatever else catches my whim.
