These photos of Mono Lake and its
surroundings, just east of Yosemite National Park, were taken in mid-April 2004.
Those strange structures standing out of the lake are called
Tufas. They were formed under water but have emerged above water
thanks to LA slurping the lake down to half its capacity over
the decades. The ghost-town photos were taken at Bodie, an
abandoned mining town a few miles north of Mono Lake.
